When most people think of a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty in New Jersey, they rarely envision a patient having a mini tummy tuck, but rather they usually envision a patient undergoing a traditional tummy tuck. In this type of tummy tuck, the tummy tuck surgeon will operate on the entire abdominal area. Part of the surgery involves cutting a hole around the belly button, detaching the belly button, pulling the excess skin taunt, removing the excess skin, and then reattaching the belly button. Just like it sounds, this is a lot of work (usually between two to five hours), and requires a tummy tuck recovery period of at least four weeks before you begin to feel normal again.

In contrast, if you are eligible, a mini tummy tuck may be your best option. This is normally a one to two hour procedure. You will sometimes hear abdominoplasty surgeons refer to the mini tummy tuck as a scarless tummy tuck or a partial abdominoplasty.

While there are numerous reasons a tummy tuck candidate would be interested in a mini tummy tuck, the most common reason is due to aging. Since only the lower part of their abdomen begins to sag, a mini tummy tuck is usually the perfect option for them.

There are numerous attributes for an ideal NJ mini tummy tuck candidate. These include the candidate being physically fit, within ten percent of their ideal body weight, and be a non smoker (smoking can inhibit a patient’s healing ability). If you are over twenty percent over your ideal body weight, it is very likely that your tummy tuck surgeon will recommend a traditional tummy tuck. Most importantly, the abdominoplasty candidate needs to have realistic expectations of what this cosmetic surgery procedure can do for them in terms of the results they are seeking. In order to get a realistic assessment of what a tummy tuck can do, you need to contact a tummy tuck surgeon and schedule a consultation.

In contrast with a traditional tummy tuck, a partial tummy tuck will cost less due to a variety of factors. Specifically, these factors include a smaller area to be operated on, less of the surgeon’s time, and less time in the operating facility. Of course, most mini tummy tuck candidates want to know exactly how much the surgery will cost. Unfortunately, without consulting the mini tummy tuck doctor, it is impossible to give you a definitive final tally.

There are numerous items that constitute the final tally. These include the surgeon’s fee, which is based on the tummy tuck surgeon’s geographical location, skill level, an experience. In addition to the surgeon’s fees, there are also anesthesiologists fee, operating facility fees, pain medication fees, and laboratory services fees, just to mention a few of the items that you will have to pay for. Unfortunately, since a mini tummy tuck in New Jersey is considered an elective cosmetic surgery procedure, you insurance most likely will not cover it.

The mini tummy tuck is much simpler (as well as much less invasive) than a traditional tummy tuck or an extended tummy tuck. The main difference between a mini tummy tuck and a traditional abdominoplasty is that the belly button is not detached and reattached during the mini tummy tuck because only the abdominal area below the navel is operated on. In addition, during a mini abdominoplasty, a smaller incision is made than compared with the other two types of tummy tucks.

For those of you who would prefer greater detail on what exactly a mini tummy tuck consists of, this section is for you. If you don’t want to know the exact steps of what constitute a mini tummy tuck, you can skip to the next paragraph. First, during the mini tummy tuck, a small incision is made and the lower abdomen fat and skin is detached from the muscle fascia. Next, the skin is pulled taunt and the excess skin is removed. Depending on the extent of the abdominal wall damage (usually from pregnancy), the abdominal muscles can be tightened. After the abdominal walls are tightened, the tummy tuck surgeon will suture the skin flap back into place.

Depending on your tummy tuck surgeon, your mini tummy tuck will be performed either in the hospital, the surgeon’s operating suite, or another dedicated operating facility. Most likely, you will be under general anesthesia during this plastic surgery procedure. However, some tummy tuck surgeons prefer to perform this procedure while the patient is under local anesthetic, although the patient is still sedated. This will obviously be an issue you want to discuss with your abdominoplasty doctor.

Similar to a normal tummy tuck, many tummy tuck doctors like to also perform liposuction with this surgery to get the best results, from an aesthetic perspective. Keep in mind though, the more cosmetic surgery procedures you undergo at one time, the greater your likelihood of developing operative and post operative complications. Also, in the case of liposuction, the more fat deposits you have removed, the greater the risk of complications.

Many people want to know how long it will take them to recover from a mini tummy tuck since the recovery times differ from a traditional abdominoplasty. For the partial abdominoplasty, the recovery period is much shorter. You should be able to return to light activity within two to three days of the surgery. In addition, you should be able to return to work within one to three weeks of this procedure. As for strenuous activities, you should refrain from these for at least one month.

During the abdominoplasty recovery period, there are a few things to monitor. The most common post operative concern is infection. The best way to combat this issue is to attend your follow up appointments with your abdominoplasty surgeon. During these appointments, your doctor will monitor your healing while also looking out for signs of infections.

Besides infection, another concern is blood clots. To alleviate this issue, your mini tummy tuck doctor may recommend you use compression garments. These garments can include abdominal binders and leg stocking. The abdominal binders are used to apply the correct amount of pressure to your abdominal surgical areas. As a result of this pressure, you will experience less swelling and less bruising, which leads to a quicker recovery and a better aesthetic outcome. The leg stocking you may be asked to wear will help prevent blood clots from forming in your legs.

You will hear many people refer to a mini tummy tuck as a scarless abdominoplasty. Unfortunately, this is not an apt description. A scarless tummy tuck gets its name from the fact that the surgeon can make a smaller incision (compared with a traditional tummy tuck), which can be hidden in the patient’s bikini or boxer line. In case you are wondering how big the scar will be, it can be as short as six inches.

No matter what any one tells you, there is no such thing as a scarless tummy tuck. Once you have an abdominoplasty, you will always have a surgical scar. With that said, this scar will begin to fade and you will notice a difference in the scar darkness by the ninth month of your tummy tuck recovery.

Just remember, for further questions about a mini tummy tuck, it is best to contact a mini tummy tuck surgeon, as he or she is best situated to assist you.

Usually, when a new jersey tummy tuck candidate begins the process to learn about all the facets of the abdominoplasty process, they are sometimes surprised to learn that they will need a compression garment for use during the tummy tuck recovery.

Before we can begin a discussion about the function of compression garments, we need to provide a brief overview of what a tummy tuck is. This procedure simply entails removing the excess skin, whether due to previous pregnancies, extreme weight loss, or aging, while tightening up the abdominal wall muscles. Oftentimes, this procedure will incorporate other plastic surgery processes, such as liposuction or even a facelift or butt lift.

Due to the popularity of abdominoplasty, there are three main types. First is the traditional tummy tuck, where the patient’s excess skin is removed, from the rib cage to where the incisions are made. This is the type of procedure most of us think of when we think of a tummy tuck. The second type of abdominoplasty is the mini tummy tuck, which is oftentimes advertised (mistakenly so) as a scarless tummy tuck. During this surgery, only the area between the belly button and the incisions is operated on. It is mistakenly called a scarless surgery because you will still end up with a scar. However, your tummy tuck surgeon should be able to hide the incision in your bikini line, so it appears as if you don’t have a scar. The last kind of abdominoplasty, an extended tummy tuck, is where the plastic surgeon performs a traditional tummy tuck, as well as operates on the lower back portion of the patient. In addition, the surgeon will also operate on the patient’s flanks. An ideal candidate for this surgery would be someone who will still have excess skin on their flanks and lower back areas after a traditional abdominoplasty.

After the tummy tuck, your doctor will prescribe medication to aid in alleviating any discomfort and pain. As a side note, you should stop taking anti-inflammatory medications, herbal supplements, and aspirin before this cosmetic surgery procedure. These items have been found to increase bleeding. Therefore, you will want to stop taking these items as they can contribute to operative and post-operative complications. For the inevitable swelling and bruising that arises after the procedure, you will have to wear a compression garment.

Compression garments, sometimes also called an abdominal binder, among other names, are a vital part of the abdominoplasty recovery process. A compression garment is designed (and tested) to provide an unsurpassed level of comfort while also providing much needed support to your surgical areas. A compression garment supports your tummy tuck recovery by applying pressure to your swollen areas, resulting in decreased bouncing and jiggling. Another result of using these garments is that they improve blood circulation while also speeding up the tummy tuck recovery process. Furthermore, these garments are used to help your skin conform to its new contours, while helping the body rid itself of toxic fluids.
An important thing to note about a compression garment is that it is a medical implement. This is important because many people (usually men) will try to find a cheaper alternative. Unfortunately, this cheaper alternative is usually not a medical-grade quality compression garment. While you may not initially see the big deal with buying a non-medical grade quality compression garment, this compression garment can very easily delay your recovery process, or worse, actually making the swelling, bruising, and discomfort worse. This is due to numerous reasons. First, these items are designed for long term wear (for up to eight weeks), so non medical grade garments have a tendency to lose their ability to provide compression. Also, even though an item may seem like it provides compression in the right areas, only a medical compression garment can apply the correct amount of pressure to the right surgical areas since non medical grade compression garments aren’t designed for specific medical procedures.

As further incentive for using the proper medical garment, the longer your tummy tuck recovery process, the more noticeable your scars will be. While a compression garment can not prevent scars or eliminate scars, your post-operative surgical results will be dramatically better if your use an approved medical grade garment than if you don’t.

The nice thing about a tummy tuck compression garment is that you can wear it under your clothes, so not one will be able to see it. The garments themselves are usually white, so they blend right in with your normal clothing items. As a side note, you should not wear compression garments while your sleep. If for some reason the garments slip, it could impede blood circulation.

You may be surprise to learn that different compression garments exist for a traditional tummy tuck than a mini tummy tuck. Also, tummy tuck compression garments are designed different for each gender. As you can imagine, a female compression garment will be much more supportive than a male garment. Additionally, there are compression garments for numerous plastic surgery procedures, from liposuction to face and neck surgeries.

People often want to know what the compression garment feels like when you wear it. A great analogy is that it is very similar to a body suit that provides a slimming effect. For those of you who wear Spanx, you will know exactly what we are talking about.

As for the actual design, a tummy tuck compression garment usually has a zipper that permits you to easily slip in and out of the garment. Whether the zipper is in the front or the side depends on the garment’s manufacturer. Also, besides zippers, manufacturers use different fastening mechanisms such as ties or Velcro.

Besides the compression garment that surrounds your abdomen, your abdominoplasty surgeon may also want you to wear compression leg stockings. This type of compression garment is designed to prevent blood clots from forming in your legs.

Many people want to know how long they will have to wear their compression garment. The answer depends on your surgeon. Usually, you will be in a compression garment from the first week of the tummy tuck recovery to around the eighth week.

Many people also choose to buy two compression garments. This is primarily for hygienic reasons. Since you must wash your garments, if you have two of them, you can always wear one while washing the other one. When it comes to washing your garments, they need to be hand laundered according to the manufacturer’s directions. Failure to do so may decrease the durability of the garments.

Fortunately, there are numerous compression garment companies that provide extremely high quality garments. Examples of these companies are Design Veronique and ProMed products. Before deciding on which compression garment to purchase, you should review several Internet websites to find a garment which will satisfy your preferences. In addition to reviewing different websites, it is important to consult your abdominoplasty surgeon as to which compression garment will work best for your situation.

Once a tummy tuck patient completes his or her tummy tuck surgery, he or she then enters into the tummy tuck recovery or abdominoplasty recovery phase. The actual tummy tuck recovery phase will vary depending on a myriad of factors.

The most predictive measure of a patient’s abdominoplasty recovery time is his or her health. As you can imagine, this fact is true in most surgeries. If the patient is in good health and is physically fit, than they will recover significantly more quickly than if he or she was overweight or not so physically fit. One can assume that if the patient doesn’t follow a proper nutrition program or have an effective exercise regimen, than it will take longer for that patient than a patient who does. Also, another factor that affects the tummy tuck recovery is whether the patient smokes or not. Not surprisingly, the abdominoplasty recovery period will be significantly longer for a patient who smokes than for a non-smoker.

Another item that must be factored into the equation is the type of tummy tuck surgery performed. Was a traditional, mini, or extended tummy tuck performed? Obviously, if the patient just underwent an extended tummy tuck, it will take longer to heal than if that same patient would have to undergo a mini tummy tuck recovery. Lastly, were there any other surgeries performed with the abdominoplasty? As an example, it is very common for a surgeon to perform liposuction in conjunction with a tummy tuck, which will lengthen the tummy tuck recovery period. In this case, the actual length of abdominoplasty recovery will depend on the amount of fat deposits removed during the liposuction. As a side note, the more surgical procedures performed, the greater the likelihood that complications could emerge.

Now that we have identified the main factors that affect the tummy tuck recovery period, we can examine how long the actual abdominoplasty recovery period will take. Since this cosmetic surgery procedure is fairly intense, the patient should not expect to resume any kind of normal routine for at least two weeks. With that said, it is very important that the tummy tuck patient take the prescribed amount of time off in order to heal properly. With that word of caution, it can take up to several weeks (it can easily be at least four weeks) before a patient will be able to resume normal activities. Any activities that involve lifting (especially picking up a heavy toddler), pulling, or pushing should not be rushed. If the patient does choose to ignore this advice, it is quite possible that they will extend their tummy tuck recovery period much longer than it needed to be.

Some abdominoplasty surgeons will actually insist their abdominoplasty patients remain on bed rest in order to accelerate the tummy tuck recovery process. While some patients may not want to follow this advice, it is very important that they do so in order to not hurt themselves.

Some people wonder how stressing the actual tummy tuck recovery is. An interesting fact that many patients learn is that they may be unable to stand up straight during the first week of the recovery from abdominoplasty. This is due to the fact that their skin and abdominal wall muscles have been pulled taunt during the surgery. Fortunately, this condition is very temporary, and you will see a little improvement every day.

Right after the tummy tuck, your post operative care will begin with you remaining in the hospital or operating facility from anywhere from a few hours to as much as two to three days. The length of your stay will depend heavily on the type of abdominoplasty performed, whether it was a mini tummy tuck, an extended tummy tuck, or a traditional tummy tuck. As you can imagine, you are more likely to have to stay longer for an extended tummy tuck than you would have to for a mini tummy tuck. The first night of your tummy tuck recovery, you will be very groggy and possibly nauseous (from the anesthesia) and tired. Nausea and vomiting are common post-operative occurrences. It is best to try to rest and not exert any more energy than is necessary.

In addition, you may have to have a tummy tuck drain. This is a device that is inserted into your stomach (sometimes through the abdominoplasty incision) that collects the fluid that develops between your skin and your abdominal wall muscles. This abdominoplasty drain can stay in for as short as three days and as long as three weeks. While it is an inconvenience, it is definitely worth it in terms of the health benefits it provides. Your doctor will provide instructions on how to measure the tummy tuck drain’s output, how to change it, and any other special directions. If your doctor didn’t use dissolvable stitches, your tummy tuck doctor will usually remove the stitches after about a week. Your doctor should also provide instructions for taking care of surgical dressings, as well as what is and is not acceptable in terms of baths and showers. While you may think that you are going to want to wash up after the surgery, the truth is that you will be too exhausted to wash up. Most likely, you will only be able to take a sponge bath for the first few days of your tummy tuck recovery.

A little discussed side effect of the tummy tuck is constipation. As with any surgical procedure, constipation is a possibility due to the anesthesia. Your doctor may prescribe something for you or you may consider a natural remedy for this minor issue. Natural cure include prunes and apple juice.

Many people are concerned about the level of swelling and discomfort that they may be exposed to. It is very common for swelling to be present for a few weeks after the abdominoplasty. Discomfort will also be present for a few weeks, although your tummy tuck surgeon can prescribe something to alleviate the discomfort. The level of swelling and discomfort will be directly affected by the amount of effort you expend during the tummy tuck recovery period. If you exert more effort than you should, you run the risk of having increased swelling and physical pain.

With that said, many doctors will recommend you begin performing light exercise about a week into the abdominoplasty recovery period. Light exercise can accelerate the time it takes to fully heal by improving circulation. A highly recommended exercise is to perform gentle walking, which you should do every hour or so to minimize the potential of blood clots developing. You must be careful not to exert yourself too much in the beginning: weight lifting and intense cardiovascular activity is not to be initially performed.

From an aesthetic perspective, the visible incisions made by the tummy tuck surgeon will heal after only a few weeks. However, it realistically can take up to a year for the work done on the abdominal muscles to fully heal. It is critical that the patient take good care of himself/herself to ensure their incisions and abdominal muscles heal properly.

Another important aspect to mention is that your doctor will schedule you for several follow-up appointments. While these appointments may seem like a bother during the tummy tuck recovery period, it is very important that you attend them. Usually a patient will ask why they should attend these appointments since the surgery is now complete. The patient may even wonder if the surgeon is simply trying to make a few extra dollars by performing a cursory review. Fortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. The simple reason you need to attend these appointments are because they are the venue for your abdominoplasty surgeon to monitor your healing while also looking for signs of infection. If you doctor finds signs of infection, he or she can treat it with antibiotics. If this infection goes untreated, a minor thing can quickly blossom into a major issue, with the end result being you stuck in the hospital.

Part of the recovery for tummy tuck is that you may need to wear a special garment. This garment is called a compression garment or as it sometimes is known, an “abdominal binder.” You may be asked by your doctor to wear this garment under your clothes for several weeks into the abdominoplasty recovery period. The purpose of this garment is to reduce the level of swelling in the patient by minimizing the amount of pressure on the skin as well as provide the required support to the surgical areas. Also, these compression garments were designed to provide comfort while supporting the best aesthetic surgical outcome. In addition, you may be asked to wear specialized leg stockings to minimize the possibility of developing blood clots in your legs.

While some patients may consider purchasing off-the-shelf, non-medical garments as a cheaper alternative to a medical quality-grade garment, it is worth noting that these non-medical garments can actually prolong your healing process, while worsening the discomfort and swelling you may experience.

In addition to the compression garments, your doctor should prescribe medications to assist in your healing. These medications can both be administered orally and by applying them to the incision sites. The purpose of these medicines is to minimize the possibility of infection becoming a major issue as well as provide pain relief.

During the tummy tuck recovery, it is important for patients to remain aware of how their healing is progressing. There are numerous red flags would should signal you to call your doctor immediately. These flags include breathing difficulties, severe pain, or indications of infection. Indications of infection and include redness at the surgical site or the surgical site releasing pus. At the first sign of any of these symptoms, it is important to immediately call your doctor.

Lastly, don’t be discouraged if you aren’t immediately impressed with the results of your tummy tuck. It will take several months (sometimes as many as three to six months) before the final outcome becomes visible. It will take even longer before the incision scars begin to fade away (sometimes this can take up to nine months). If you are a smoker, it is important to note that this habit can lead to larger stomach scars.

Another thing to note is that the length and difficulty of the tummy tuck recovery is proportional to the noticability of the stomach scarring. In other words, the more strenuous your recovery, the more noticeable your scars will be. This in itself is a great incentive to ensure you get the proper rest, so that your healing can proceed more smoothly. Unfortunately, no matter how smooth your abdominoplasty recovery period goes, your final outcome will still involve scarring.

Many people want to know how long the tummy tuck results will last. Usually, after the tummy tuck recovery period, the tummy tuck results should last for quite a long time (i.e. many, many years). However, there are three exceptions to this rule. First, if the patient (male or female) gains a large amount of weight, then the abdominoplasty results will be undone. This is why it is important to follow a proper nutrition plan and a reasonable exercise regimen.

The second way a tummy tuck will be undone is due to aging. As we age, our abdomens tend to sag regardless of the actions we take. Of course, if the sagging becomes unbearable, it is still possible to undergo another tummy tuck.

The last way to undo a tummy tuck is for a woman to become pregnant. From a medical perspective, the stress of a stretching belly may be too much for the tummy tuck scar. Also from an aesthetical perspective, if a woman’s pregnancy stretches out her skin again, the only way to get the contoured look back is by undergoing another abdominoplasty.

Hopefully, this Abdominoplasty New Jersey Guide article has been helpful in answering many of your tummy tuck and abdominoplasty related questions. For a more detailed answering of your questions, it is best for you to contact a tummy tuck surgeon, as they are best situated to answer all of your tummy tuck recovery questions.

When it comes to finding an abdominoplasty surgeon in New Jersey, an individual must be careful to find a tummy tuck surgeon who will be the best fit for their particular case.

While this may seem obvious, it can be very challenging finding a surgeon who you are comfortable with. In order to be successful in this endeavor, there are a few steps you can take. First, it is critical that you review the surgeon’s previous work. Most tummy tuck surgeons will maintain a portfolio of before and after pictures of their previous clients. Usually, you can find these pictures on the surgeon’s Internet website. After reviewing these pictures, if you like the tummy tuck surgeon’s previous work, you should schedule a consultation.

Before you actually go to the consultation, you need to verify the tummy tuck surgeon’s credentials. Each state has a Board of Medical Examiners which can help you with this task.

The second phase, the consultation, is where you determine if the plastic surgeon is right for you. In essence, this phase is really an interview, where you are deciding whether or not to hire the abdominoplasty surgeon. During this phase, you want to be very attentive to everything the surgeon is saying. Of most importance, is whether the abdominoplasty surgeon is addressing the precautions they take to minimize the risk of complications resulting from a tummy tuck. While complications are rare, it is always better to be prepared then unprepared.

The last issue you will want to inquire about is the abdominoplasty surgeon’s fees and experience. As one can imagine, the more experienced a surgeon is, the more likely his or her fees will be higher. In the same vein, you really don’t want a novice performing this procedure just because it is cheaper. As each situation will be different, it is important that you contact a tummy tuck surgeon to ascertain how much experience the surgeon has and how much the total procedure will cost.

Normally, when someone mentions that a friend of theirs is about to attend an abdominoplasty New Jersey consultation, most people automatically conjure up an image of a woman going into a surgeon’s office for one of numerous reasons. Maybe the woman wants to ride herself of excess skin because of a previous pregnancy or two. Or maybe, a woman simply wishes to rid herself of some vanity pounds in an attempt to regain her youthful figure. Or maybe, a woman simply wants to have the washboard abs look that she one had. However, as accurate as these visions may have been in the past, in today’s age, that image of a woman going in for a consultation could be of a man who is pursuing his options in male abdominoplasty.

More and more men are deciding to have a male tummy tuck. In fact, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, more than 5600 men underwent a male tummy tuck in 2007 alone. While this number may not seem significant, it is important to note that these numbers are likely to increase as male cosmetic surgery becomes more acceptable in today’s society. In addition to male plastic surgery become more acceptable, one could go as far as saying society actually encourages male cosmetic surgery. Unfortunately, if you don’t fit the pattern of being physically fit and looking youthful (read between the lines: you need to be thin), you stand a good chance of being ostracized in several arenas. These arenas could be social (who wants to be seen with the fat guy), professional (it seems that the most attractive people are the ones who get the promotions), or even mental (when you feel and look good your self confidence and self esteem rises).

Obviously, men don’t have a tummy tuck male due to the traditional reason of trying to regain their figure after a pregnancy. Instead, men require a male tummy tuck for one of two primary reasons.

The main reason is due to having lost an enormous amount of weight. In this case, the excess skin (and oftentimes, fat deposits), can not be eliminated via proper nutrition nor a reasonable exercise regimen.
Attempts to remove this excess skin and fat deposits will only result in mounting frustration. In these cases, the only practical measure is to have a male abdominoplasty.

The second reason men choose to have a tummy tuck male is due to aging. As much as we try to fight it, Father Time always catches up to us. As much as this makes sense, many men will try to fight the good fight by going on restrictive diets and partaking in an extreme exercise routine. Unfortunately, as most of us find out, the only practical solution to regain our youthful six packs is to undergo a male tummy tuck NJ, along with some liposuction. By undergoing these two plastic surgery procedures, it is possible to regain some of your youth back. As a result, more and more men are choosing to have a male abdominoplasty in an attempt to eliminate their unsightly abdominal bulges.

Similar to when a woman undergo a tummy tuck, a male tummy tuck patient will have several issues to contend with.

One of the first questions a man may ask is “How much does a male tummy tuck cost?” Unfortunately, there is not hard and fast answer to this question. For a definitive answer, the man must contact a male tummy tuck surgeon to find out. However, for background information, there are numerous factors which play a role in the final tummy tuck cost. The most obvious is the surgeon’s fee, which will vary based on geographical location, skill, and experience. Besides the surgeon’s fee, there are also fees for the anesthesiologist, pain medications, operating facility, and miscellaneous laboratory tests. Therefore, without a visit to the male tummy tuck doctor, it is impossible to provide a definitive answer to the question of how much does a male abdominoplasty cost.

While on the subject of money, it is good to know there are numerous sources of tummy tuck financing available. Obviously, the abdominoplasty surgeon will take the traditional forms of payment (credit cards, cash, and checks). Many tummy tuck surgeons will also offer their patients the ability to take out an installment loan or will refer them to a finance company that specializes in cosmetic surgery financing. Amazingly enough, there are even credit card companies that specialized in cosmetic surgery financing.

Another item that a man should consider is if they are a good tummy tuck male candidate. A good male tummy tuck candidate should be in good health and physically fit, doesn’t smoke (as smoking inhibits your healing ability), and under the age of forty years old. Before someone complains that we are being ageist, there is a physiological reason for stating the ideal candidate should be under forty years old. Once a man reaches the ripe old age of forty years old, his skin begins to lose its elasticity. Hence, if he was to have a male liposuction, it is very possible to end up with a lumpy liposuction. Another factor in determining if a man is a good candidate is whether or not he is close to his ideal weight. A tummy tuck should not be thought of as a weight loss solution; it should only be used to remove hard to eliminate fat deposits that can not be removed via proper nutrition and reasonable exercise. If a person chooses to use this procedure as a weight loss technique, the end result will be that he will simply gain the weight back since no change to his nutrition or exercise regimen has been made. For changes to be lasting, the tummy tuck candidate must change his exercise and nutrition habits.

Depending on a man’s situation, he will have to determine what type of tummy tuck he needs to get. There are three main types of abdominoplasty. The most common male abdominoplasty is the traditional tummy tuck, where the abdominal walls are tightened and the excess skin is removed. During this procedure, the belly button is detached and reattached so it can be positioned correctly. This procedure will normally take between two to five hours. The second type is the mini tummy tuck, which is sometimes called a “scarless” tummy tuck. During this procedure, only the area below the belly button is operated on. In this type of cosmetic surgery procedure, the belly button remains intact. The term ‘scarless” comes from the fact that the incision is hidden in the man’s bikini line. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a truly scarless male tummy tuck. The last type of abdominoplasty is the extended tummy tuck, where along with the patient’s abdomen area, part of the patient’s lower back is also operated on.

Yet, another issue is the actual tummy tuck recovery. After a man undergoes his tummy tuck, he will most likely be nauseous and groggy, so he will have to plan out his dietary requirements carefully. While this may not seem like a big issue, male abdominoplasty patients have actually ripped their stitches by vomiting violently. As a side note, this nauseous and grogginess isn’t particular to male tummy tuck patients, and person who has undergone a medical procedure (whether for cosmetic or medical reasons) has the same possibility of vomiting.

Besides these symptoms, the male tummy tuck patient will also notice bruising, swelling, and discomfort after the procedure. These issues will subside with time. In the case of discomfort, your abdominoplasty surgeon should prescribe some pain medications to alleviate the physical discomfort. In addition to these minor symptoms, there are other complications that you and your surgeon need to watch for. The most significant issues to look out for are breathing difficulties and signs of infection. If you see these indications, you need to contact your doctor immediately.

Furthermore, your tummy tuck doctor should also schedule some follow up appointments. It is crucial that you do not skip these appointments, as these are the vehicle that your doctor will use to monitor your healing while also looking out for complications. These appointments are designed to keep minor issues from flaring into major issues.

Another portion of the male tummy tuck recovery is that the men will have to wear a compression garment. Now, not to stereotype men, but sometimes men may choose to pursue the cheapest route. It is not advisable to but non-medical grade quality compression garments in an attempt to save a few dollars. These garments are designed to be comfortable, while providing the needed support to your incision areas. While the prices of these garments may not seem worth it initially, the garments will save you a lot of time and suffering in the long run, plus they will aid in providing the best aesthetic outcome. Also as a side note, the longer and more difficult your tummy tuck recovery, the more likely your incision scars will remain noticeable. Even if your abdominoplasty recovery goes smooth, you will still have noticeable scars, although they should fade to a certain degree after nine months.

Now that we have gone over the basics of a male tummy tuck, it is important to discuss how to find a good tummy tuck surgeon. First of all, for a man considering a male tummy tuck, he should review the tummy tuck pictures of numerous abdominoplasty physicians in order to find one that will fit his needs. Fortunately, this is extremely easy to do since most surgeons post pictures of their previous male abdominoplasty patients (they will ask your permission before doing so, and by granting permission, you may actually be able to save some money on your surgery) on their websites. Once you review a few websites, it will become quickly evident which tummy tuck surgeons are skilled and experienced and which ones are not. Once you have identified two or three doctors that you are comfortable with, it is important for you to schedule a consultation with them. This consultation is your chance to interview the surgeon. The most important thing at this stage is to listen to the surgeon. What types of things is he or she stressing? Does he or she mention the measures they take to mitigate the possibility of complications? Does the doctor seem very aggressive, recommending a heavy dose of male liposuction, when you feel you don’t need it? Does the doctor seem like he or she is trying to run up the bill by recommending additional surgical procedures, when you never indicated you had any desire? Obviously, the theme you want to hear over and over again is that precautions are put in place to reduce the possibility of post operative complications. If you are not hearing this as a recurring theme, you should look elsewhere for a new tummy tuck doctor.

The key thing to consider after the consultation is how comfortable are you with the abdominoplasty surgeon. Usually, if you are like most people, your intuition will not lead you astray. If you feel comfortable with the surgeon and his or her fee structure is acceptable, than you have found the right surgeon for you.

As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, it is important for you to contact a male tummy tuck surgeon to gain further insight, as they are best situated to advise you.

A good New Jersey abdominoplasty candidate has several common attributes. Most importantly, the candidate has developed a realistic expectation of the tummy tuck’s outcome. The candidate knows what can and cannot be done via this cosmetic surgery procedure. He or she also realizes that this procedure is not to be used as a weight loss technique, but should be used to remove excess skin that is impossible to eliminate via proper nutrition or exercise.

Other attributes of an ideal candidate would be that they are fit, in good health, and a non-smoker. For those candidates who smoke, it is important to realize that smoking can slow down the healing process, as well as increase the risk of post-operative complications.

In addition to the characteristics mentioned above, a good abdominoplasty New Jersey candidate would not expect to become pregnant again nor be unduly overweight. For someone who is considering becoming pregnant or losing a large amount of weight, it would be prudent to wait until 6 months after the delivery or the amount of desired weight loss has been achieved before proceeding with a NJ tummy tuck.

Although a tummy tuck can be performed on both women and men, women typically have this procedure more often than men. Hence, if a woman is considering a tummy tuck due to her abdominals walls stretching (i.e. during pregnancy), she would be a good candidate for an abdominoplasty.

As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, it is crucial that the patient have realistic expectations of what the procedure will produce. Additionally, it is important for you to contact an abdominoplasty New Jersey surgeon to gain further insight, as they are best situated to advise you.

As we discussed in the article, Abdominoplasty/Tummy Tuck New Jersey Costs, a typical tummy tuck can cost anywhere between $3,000 to $10,000. As this procedure is usually considered elective cosmetic surgery, the majority (if not all) insurance companies will deny a claim. Fortunately, there are several payment options available to a candidate who is considering an abdominoplasty.

As can be expected, the majority of abdominoplasty New Jersey surgeons will accept the typical payment forms: credit cards, checks or cash.

In addition to these forms of payment, there are companies who will finance the cost of your surgery. A well-known company that offers this service is www.captialonehealthcarefinance. This company offers both interest free loans and installment loans, depending on the situation.

Another option for financing a tummy tuck is to use a company that specializes in plastic surgery loans. Surgeryfinancing.com is a great example of this type of company.

Lastly, a candidate can always ask their plastic surgeon if their office is willing to extend a loan to cover the procedure. Some abdominoplasty New Jersey surgeons may be willing to extend this option to you. In order to qualify for this option, a candidate should have a high FICO score. This score demonstrates one’s willingness and ability to repay their financial obligations.

As a final note, the tummy tuck surgeon will want to be paid at the pre-operative appointment versus after the surgery. This is due to the fact that the surgeon cannot take back his services once the surgery is done.

When most people think about getting a tummy tuck in New Jersey, they usually envision a traditional abdominoplasty. However, the fact is there are actually three types of abdominoplasty.

The first, and most commonly known type of tummy tuck, is the traditional tummy tuck. In this procedure, the abdominal walls are exposed, the abdominal wall muscles are tightened, and the skin is pulled down tight with the excess skin being detached. With a traditional tummy tuck, the entire abdominal area is operated on, and the patient’s belly button will be moved.

The second type of abdominoplasty New Jersey is the mini-tummy tuck. A mini-tummy tuck, also called a partial abdominoplasty or a “scarless” tummy tuck, is a scaled down version of the traditional tummy tuck. For this surgical procedure, the patient requires only a small amount of excess skin to be removed, usually due to aging. Compared to the traditional tummy tuck, the mini-tummy tuck is much less invasive. A smaller incision is made and the treatment area consists of the area from the incision to the navel. During the procedure, the navel is not moved. Hence, during the surgery, a smaller section of the abdominal wall is exposed. A person who is considering a mini-tummy tuck doesn’t have a severe enough condition for the traditional abdominoplasty.

Finally, the last type of abdominoplasty New Jersey is the extended tummy tuck. This procedure is an expanded version of the traditional tummy tuck and involves removing excess skin from the patient’s flanks, lower back, and hips. This type of tummy tuck is usually performed on those patients who have excess skin on their flanks, upper hips, and lower back.

Depending on a myriad of factors, a Tummy Tuck cost can be anywhere from $3,000 to $10,000. Let’s briefly examine a few of these factors. First, the type of New Jersey abdominoplasty plays a major role in the cost. Will you have a traditional, extended, or mini-abdominoplasty performed? Usually, a mini will cost less than a traditional, while an extended tummy tuck will cost more than a traditional.
Next, how extensive is the abdominal contouring to be? The more dramatic of an effect the patient wishes to see, the more expensive the procedure will be. Also, the facility where the surgery is to be performed will affect the overall cost. It may be cheaper to have the tummy tuck completed in the surgeon’s medical suite versus a hospital’s operating facility Another factor that can affect the total cost for the tummy tuck is whether the procedure is combined with another procedure, such as liposuction.

With all if that said, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the national average cost of an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is $5,264. This figure just includes the surgeon’s fee. Even though this is the national average, costs can range due to regional differences. In addition, these costs may not include the following items:
•	Anesthesia
•	Hospital Stay
•	Operating Room Facility Fee
•	Lab work and Medical Tests
•	Pain Medications

Generally speaking, your insurance most likely will not cover the cost of a New Jersey Abdominoplasty unless it is needed for medical reasons (such as repairing a hernia) since the procedure is considered elective cosmetic surgery. Another unfortunate side effect is that some insurance companies will raise premiums in an effort to offset the risks associated with a New Jersey tummy tuck.

Due to the fact that a New Jersey abdominoplasty may not be covered by insurance, many plastic surgeons offer different financing options. While they take the traditional forms of financing such as cash, checks, or credit cards, some plastic surgeons are willing to work out a payment plan to cover the procedure. Make sure that when you speak with a plastic surgeon, you inquire about the different financing options that he/she may offer.

A New Jersey abdominoplasty, or as it is more commonly known, a tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure where excess skin and fat is removed from an individual’s midsection. Besides the removal of excess skin and fat, the surgeon will also tighten up the lower and middle abdominal wall muscles.

An abdominoplasty is considered a major cosmetic surgery procedure. In addition, this procedure is one of the most common aesthetic cosmetic procedures performed. As with any major surgery, it is critical that someone who is considering the procedure contact a licensed medical doctor to discuss the risks associated with the procedure.

A New Jersey tummy tuck can also be combined with other medical procedures, such as tubal ligations and liposuction. The type of abdominoplasty will determine the type of anesthesia used. If a full tummy tuck is performed, general anesthesia will have to be used to knock the patient out. If a partial abdominoplasty is performed, local anesthesia will be used.

While some celebrities may have had tummy tucks, it is important to realize that an New Jersey abdominoplasty is not to be used as a weight loss technique. Anyone considering a tummy tuck should be in good health, within normal weight parameters, and have a realistic expectation of what the surgery will provide. As an example, it is very unrealistic to expect a set of abdominals like Britney Spears (in her prime) if you are currently thirty pounds overweight. On the other hand, if you have loss an excessive amount of weight, it may be realistic to expect a flatter stomach.

Additionally, a New Jersey tummy tuck can be performed on both men and women. While the surgery may be expected to be performed mostly on women, due to the stretching of skin during pregnancy, it is also common for men to undergo the procedure after a significant weight lost.

When determining if an individual is a good candidate for a New Jersey abdominoplasty, one has to consider the timeframe of the excess abdominal skin. If the skin hasn’t retracted within 6 months of the weight loss, it is most probable the skin will never return to its desired state. Therefore, is would be prudent for someone who has just loss a significant amount of weigh to wait several months to see if the excess skin would need to be surgically removed of if it will retract on its own.

The ideal outcome of a New Jersey abdominoplasty is a flatter stomach (due to the reduction of excess fat and skin) and sometimes smaller hips.
